You will find a unique system of Demänovská caves, of which Demänovská Cave and Demänovská Cave of Freedom are accessible. In the Nízke Tatry, you can also explore the Važecká and year-round accessible Stanišovská Cave.

In the vicinity of mining towns, you will be welcomed by the Harmanecká Cave, where partisans hid during World War II. The Bystrianska Cave boasts rich decorations, and in some places, aragonite has also appeared. The area around this cave offers rich opportunities for winter and summer recreation in the resorts of Tále, Mýto pod Ďumbierom, or the southern slopes of Chopok.

The royal town of Kremnica is one of the gems you should not miss when visiting central Slovakia. The Kremnica Mint is our oldest enterprise, operating continuously for over 700 years. Florins, ducats, Slovak crowns, and today euros were minted here. You can learn more about the history of currency at the Museum of Coins and Medals. Take a stroll through the historic center of the town and climb the church tower, where you'll be rewarded with beautiful views of the town and its surroundings.

In addition to these cultural treasures, you'll also find another unique feature near Kremnica. Not far from the mining town, in the village of Kremnické Bane lies the alleged center of Europe. Near the Church of St. John, there is a stone with a plaque that informs about the uniqueness of this place.
Banská Bystrica can be considered a sort of center of this region. It is linked to the mining history of the region as well as our history. The SNP Museum focuses on important historical events. However, you'll encounter a rarity while walking through the historic center of the city. The Clock Tower from 1552 leans slightly, earning it the nickname the leaning tower.
